What Ants Live In Aiken?

Argentine Ants
Originally from Argentina, Argentine ants made their way into the United States in the late 1700s. Pharaoh Ants

Whether you own a home or business, you should do your best to keep ants out. This means doing all of the following:
1. Limit Food Sources
Ants are food-motivated, so limiting their food sources is a great way to prevent these pests. When you eat a meal, clean up crumbs from the counter, table, and floor. Vacuum and sweep your floors regularly, or ants will have a steady supply of food. You should also store your garbage and food with care. Be sure that all of your garbage cans have tightly-sealed lids. Do the same with the food in your pantry. If you keep food in cardboard boxes or unsealed bags, you’ll start to notice ants in your home.
2. Limit Moisture
Many types of ants are attracted to moisture. If you keep your business or home from being too wet, you’re less likely to have an issue with ants. This means fixing leaky and clogged sinks. It also means venting your bathrooms and using a dehumidifier in high-moisture areas, like your basement.
3. Limit Debris Around Your Home
If you don’t want ants inside your building, you need to take care of your property. Debris piles attract ants and should be immediately cleaned. Keep your shrubs and trees trimmed, or they may attract insects.
4. Limit Entrances
Although you probably don’t want ants in your yard, you really don’t want them in your home. To keep them outside, eliminate as many entry points as possible. Check for gaps under your doors and windows, then seal them up as you find them. Use caulk to seal up cracks and fissures in your foundation and walls. Then, repair holes or gaps in your screens.
